We needed somewhere to stay last minute. It was an adequate hotel in a good location, but a bit tired.nThe lighting in the room was dingy. Bathroom fan was very noisy and needs attention. Mattress was average.nWe paid extra for a harbour view which was a nice outlook.nBottom line, the rooms are clean and it served its purpose, but nothing special.
The MacLeay Hotel is truly a remote-worker’s dream, with all the amenities, quality WiFi, and access to great food and bars nearby.nnWhile I spoke to the manager who says they are planning a renovation, the rooms really are up-to-scratch, clean, and check all the boxes of the ‘basics’. Pillows are comfortable, sheets are quality, housekeeping does a great job and the staff are kind and accommodating.nnI will absolutely stay here again any time I want access to the food near Kings Cross when staying in Sydney. You should too, if you can get a reservation!
This hotel was in a great place easy access to the city and surrounding areas very clean, but wasn't sure where the restaurant was needs to be advertised more. All staff where amazing especially our night porter didn't get his name but he really looked after us and our grandson and his friends who had a few late nights. Cleaning staff could not do enough for us. A great stay overall big thanks for the St Helens rugby group from room 714 & 701 ps great views from our room 😀 👍
The staff was cold and arrogant. The facilities were poor that the hair drier was not functioning properly but they don’t care. The room is small and dirty but extremely expensive bc you bought it for the harbor view. Think twice if you really need that view from the hotel. 2 stars are for the daily room cleaning.
The staff is super friendly.. helpful, our air con wasn't working so they arranged for a fan and later changed the room for us. Has good BBQ space, swimming pool and paid car parking, a bit congested though..
🪳🪳Nope, not happy at all. One off or not it was not the experience I was looking for at all.n4am I woke up to 4 large cockroaches in the room I was staying in! Deeply appalled at the minimal effort put into keeping the rooms clean and roach free. I still can’t believe it, they were crawling out of a gap on the floor between the carpet and the wall. I spent 2hrs at 4am to kill all of them and ended up sleeping knowing 2 were still in the room, I had early appointments the next day so I couldn’t not escalate the situation with staff that late.nnUpon telling the staff the next morning during checkout they told me they would speak to the cleaners to confirm then contact me on wether or not there’s compensation. All they did for us is refund a $30 parking ticket when now I’m deprived of sleep and will be late for my appointment. I will NOT be staying here again and this hotel currently does not deserve to be a 4 star hotel until they clean up their rooms and infestations, I will pushed to have their rating reviewed!nSERIOUSLY DO BETTER
Well picked this place because we looked at other reviews. But we must say we are disappointed. Why you ask room had no usb plug anywhere secondly bin was still full even after reception called on 2 way too double check room was ready before key was given to me. 3 tiny little milk tubs for tea or coffee No pay TV just standard TV. To be honest last night's hotel in Coffs harbour offered more in room than here . But that's my opinion . Just being honest
Great stay, 24 hrs concierge provided excellent customer service, great advice for local attractions, good value for money. Good location, including opposite supermarket. Thank you for making our family exploring holiday in Sydney for 4 days very enjoyable.
Great location, beautiful building/ lobby area. Room was good, quite spacious.
Fabulous great room great view lots of shops coffee places food looks towards harbour and Opera house staff wonderful
The hotel itself wasn't bad, I think the location was abit eerie at night, but thats purely my opinion. During the day its fine, its a 10min walk from the Kingscross train station and a couple stops away from Circular Quay (Sydney CBD), by car it would be around 10mins. The room itself was decent and good for the 2 nights I was there. The view was awesome, the staff were friendly, and the pricing was decent.
Great location and stunning views on top floor. Affordable. Room was clean and comfortable. Friendly service.
Nicely renovated rooms. Really helpful staff. I was able to leave my bags with reception while I had meetings during the day, then come back in the afternoon, change and head to the airport.
Rooms are clean, beds are comfy and bathroom is nice. Amenities are average but you still get a small tv, kettle toaster etc. air conditioning is just one button you turn on, you cant control the temperature, and the heater is just a tiny little old one so takes a while to heat up the room fully. Unfortunately there was roadworks right out the front while we were there so there was a lot of noise and detours, however was overall a good stay and the front desk reception were lovely.n- Couple, 2 nights, standard room.
Beautiful views for both the harbour view room and also the room at the back overlooking the bay. Beds were sooooo soft and dreamy and amazing location. Well worth the price
Great location, lovely staff, incredible views from floor 9. Room was dated and tired with damage to cabinets and generally old and run down furniture / appliances. Clean and tidy though and would stay again.
Excellent choice if staying in Sydney. Great value for money, Wollies is just across the road, lots of restaurants in the area, small walk to the train station and buses stop close by. The pool had great views over the harbour. There is a rooftop viewing area that I was able to get some great night shots of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Staff are wonderful. Oh and they have a BBQ and seating area too so you can save money by buying your meat and salad at Woolworths across the road and then using the BBQ here. This is going to be our choice for staying in Sydney.
