A Trip to Doha | Qatar
Qatar is a peninsular Arab country whose terrain comprises an arid desert and a long Persian Gulf shoreline of beaches and dunes. Also, on the coast is the capital, Doha, known for its futuristic skyscrapers and other ultramodern architecture inspired by ancient Islamic design, such as the limestone Museum of Islamic Art. Doha has risen out of the desert, fueled by innovation and an energetic passion. The result is a city that has quickly transformed from a humble pearl diving and fishing village to one of the Middle East's most important and dynamic destinations. For centuries, Doha was a fishing village known for its pearl trade. The country's pearl divers were famed for their skill in finding the largest and most perfectly formed pearls, and the original village was also a busy fishing port for generations.
