The town and municipality of Hersonissos, also known as Chersonisos and Hersónisos, are located in the northern part of the island of Crete, close to the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas. Approximately 25 kilometres separate this community from Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos. Its peninsula and harbour are what are commonly referred to as Hersonissos.
