Very big and a lot of animals. It's looks like good quality and the animals have a big enclosure that doesn't feel cruel. Some areas the animals can roam around freely. It felt good. With the ticket, you also get acces to the aquarium and reptile place. In a weekday it is very calm
Without question, this is certainly one of the best zoos I have ever been to. The animals have big habitats and lots of space, with the ability to disappear from public view if they feel like it. This zoo is home to so many animals, and I was impressed to see that they even harbor a rare breed like the snow leopard.nnThey offer multiple opportunities to stop for food and drinks, from small food stands selling fries and icecream to a restaurant offering multiple lunch options, cold as well as hot drinks, and dessert. Benches are scattered all throughout the zoo, meaning if you want to sit down and just admire the animals or simply take a break, you always can.nnAs I implied at the beginning, this zoo is rather huge. Therefore I would advise you to plan accordingly for the entire day. There is just too much to see, and you simply can’t cover all of it in two hours. My stay lasted for about six hours. Also, please note that the bird show is closed during winter season.nnTo summarize this review, I had a great day here and I absolutely loved it. If you are contemplating on visiting this zoo, I can only highly recommend it.
Very nice zoo in the middle of the city! The areas for the animals are quite big and well maintained. We can easily spend a few hours looking at animals from all over the world.
Nice zoo with huge spaces for the animals. Especially the indoor elephant housing is impressively large. For kids it ticks all the boxes. And easily to walk around or use the rental boulder car so you can pull the smaller kids around. Entrance fee a bit on the high side.
The zoo is quite big and easy to reach from Cologne. The animals appear well looked after and the place is clean and organised. The only thing I would say it's missing are water fountains! It was extremely hot when we visited and it is not very sustainable to keep buying water when you could have water fountains around the zoo. Otherwise it was a great day out, very interesting and fun!
One of the best zoos we have been to. The admission fee was reasonable and under the bridge, right across the street from the entrance, is a bunch of parking that was only 5 euro. We enjoyed the sea lion show, we were amazed at how well they could catch frisbees and balance balls. The food inside the zoo was also reasonably priced. The zoo got a little crowded, but that is to be expected on a Saturday.
Its an amazing beautiful zoo in the middle of the city of Cologne, with access to the most exquisite site seeing view points at the river Rhine. Well connected to a network of public transport system. Its worth the place to visit while in Cologne. Due renovation work in some animal areas in the zoo, some animals like rhinos wouldn't be out for public view, otherwise it would have gone for a 5 star rating.
One of the best zoos in Europe, amazing collection of reptiles and amphibians from Vietnam and Madagascar. The elephant House is amazing and the enclosure very large. The primate house was also admirable! It's a must worthy when visiting Cologne
One of the best maintained zoo that we have visited. Inspite of being in the middle of the city (I envy the houses which are along the boundary of the Zoo and can watch the adorable animals from their homes) there is ample space for the animals and birds to be housed. The aquarium has an amazing collection of fishes and reptiles. If you book your tickets online you also get to travel on the local train / bus transport for free from Bonn to Köln. Definitely a place to visit while in Köln or Bonn
Nice city zoo. Some of the exhibits are wide and new, others seem old-fashioned. It's compact, as most city zoos are. The nicest exhibits are the huge elephant exhibit, the primates, and the hippodom(e).
I have enjoyed my stay at the zoo and would come back. The next time certainly will be after the pandemic, once the aquarium will be open again and feeding with comments will be possible. However, it didn't made the trip less worth. Typically for a weekend a lot of people went to the zoo and therefore if possible I recommend to go during the week, at least visitor amount wise.nIf you are not owning a public transport ticket, you should have a look at the online shop. From what I understood online tickets include a ticket to the zoo. Aside from that, if you own a full paid ticket you can a little discount at the ferry wheel, which is right in front of the zoo.
It's widely spread. It's a good Zoo, but I feel that the area allocated for various animals are not good enough. Baboons are in huge number and they are clustered in such a small space. Similarly for Cheetahs and bears. Tiger and lion seems to be limited to 1 quantity (found only one). Also penguins need good spacious area with deep waters. I might be wrong at the above points as the zoo designers might be more knowledgeable, but as a visitor and a viewer I am sharing my understanding. Zoo needs little more maintenance.
This zoo was very nice. The enclosures were built so if felt like you could see all the animals. My favorite were the flamingos. There were so many of them!nnI liked how I could rent a cart for my children to ride in. I wish there were food establishments with more choices of food.nnI am do glad I ordered my tickets online because the line to get in and purchase tickets were both pretty long.
The Cologne Zoo is a mature zoo with lots of scientific credentials in the midst of the city. The gardens are beautiful and would be worth a stroll even without all the animals. Everyone may have their different favourite animals, but whatever animal that is, the zoo won't have just one, but a whole (often large) family of it. That makes the difference. Everything here is biologically sustainable and most of the animals seem to enjoy it as much as the humans...
Very nice and big city Zoo, family oriented. Lots of benches around the park so you can take a rest and enjoy the view. Well spent money and afternoon. The only remark that I have is lack of reptiles ud83eudd8eud83dudc0deven though I am not fond of them. Highly recommend this Zoo to all ages.
