Absolutely love this museum. The Sharks exhibition is 100% worth the money and has some great interactive displays as well as being hugely informative. The other exhibits were great, our favourite was Wild Planet. The cafe was nice. It was clean and the food was tasty, definitely Sydney prices but not ridiculous. The staff in the gift shop were particularly lovely and took great care to wrap the crystals we purchased. This was a birthday treat for both me and my child and it was everything we wanted, will definitely be revisiting when there are any new exhibits. Also as a queer person I really loved the Pride Sharks ❤️🏳️🌈🦈
Free entrance except for the shark display. It's an interesting place if you're into wildlife and nature. All of the exhibits here had descriptions and some even had touch and feel features. Especially loved the dino exhibit.
Great experience and extremely suitable for both children and adults.nnOur grand daughter was enthralled with the varying sections of the Museum and was also excited to see some displays which she was learning about at school.nnFun and interactive displays also make for easy learning.nnDefinitely worth a visit. 💯%
We love Australian Museum! Extremely family-friendly. Dinosaurs gallery is our favourite! The museum also has play area for kids (they change play area theme I think every quarter or so which is great). A must visit when you are in Sydney!
The museum has some genuinely rare and special exhibits. It's collection of preserved Australian birds is impressive, for example. I'm not a fan of its occasional mixing of natural history with anthropological objects, but this approach isn't taken too often thankfully. The building is a fine venue for an intriguing and worthwhile series of collections.
A beautifully curated museum showcasing a variety of natural and man made wonders. The permanent exhibit about Indigenous Australians is deeply moving and masterfully displayed. Their dinosaur exhibit is incredible, hands down one of the best I've ever seen.nAnyone with a few hours in Sydney should make a point to come here!
Went specifically for the Lego exhibit and became members. It's a fantastic museum of Natural history and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. There seems to be a great deal more exhibits from our last visit pre COVID and it's lovely to be back to explore and see new. Members lounge was also a great way to rest before we entered the Lego exhibit. Good coffee/hot chocolate machine and lots of variety of teas. Highly recommend.
Excellent place to visit. Very interesting exhibits. Loved the Dinosaur and Fossil exhibits AKA Parliament House Exhibition...ud83dude02ud83dude02ud83dude02nnJoking aside...... Do yourself a favour, enrich your Life and visit this Museum. An absolute must for any visit to Sydney City.
No wait for general admission. Small wait for the lifts, long wait for the parents rooms :(nIt's a nice place to visit. Kids were.excited. it's big enough that it didn't feel too crowded, despite it being a weekend and around lunch time, but it's not so big that you're fearing that your offspring will run off, never to be seen again.nVery clean and well spaced exhibits.
Australia Museum is a heritage-listed and oldest museum in Australia. Go on a journey of learnings and discovering the exhibits here of dinosaurs, wild planet showcasing life on earth in its glorious diversity with over 400 animals. Great outing for everyone and its free admission.
Loved visiting this museum for decades! I came here as a child then spent many more moments sharing it with my children. I had hoped one day, to be able to bring future grandchildren however, after seeing they are now allowing half naked adult men in lingerie enter let alone play in children's Lego pit, then I will definitely never return!
Great assortment of attractions. My kids (6, 4 and 2) loved the dinosaur installation. We went during a weekend. Though it wasn't that crowded, would still recommend to go on a weekday. Check-out featured exhibit online first before going especially if you have young kids
I have been previously and really enjoyed the museum but this time 90% was under development. It was absolutely packed with the majority there for the Brickman Lego but if you weren’t there for that then it isn’t worth the time visiting right now. The dinosaur area was excellent and that’s why I’ve given it 2 stars but apart from that there is nothing else on display. It does say there is a rock and mineral display on its way which will be great if done correctly. I understand the museum is free entry but I would rather pay and see some of our amazing Australian History. The Brisbane museum is a lot more interactive with more exhibits

Visited the museum on a Thursday night while they offered free admission and also had a band and bar going. Arrived around 8pm and was pleasantly surprised to find very few people there. Took my time wandering around the various exhibitions. Itu2019s not the largest natural history museum but if you like birds and/or dinosaurs, you will be pleased with what you find here. Also, there didnu2019t seem to be a particular path or flow to follow. Likely this is due to part of the place being what appears to be a very old building and then other parts seem very new/modern. That being said, Iu2019d go back if I was here again with my kids. Theyu2019d enjoy it Iu2019m sure.
Australian Museum has always been a family favourite, with so many wonderful displays and interactive features. The little children run around from huge dinosaur displays, to sit down science experiments. There's definitely a full day of exploring to be done here, best advice is be early and expect a long day.
Had a good morning taking my grandson to see the dinosaurs exhibition then he played in the dinosaur play area.nnHISTORYnnThe Australian Museum was founded in 1827 it is the nation's first museum. The Australian Museum is a heritage-listed museum located in the heart of Sydney CBDt, New South Wales, Australia. It is the oldest museum in Australia, with a diverse collections such as Nature, Culture, and Wildlife. Access is easy via public transport. 2 hours is enough for a typical visit and more you need if interested to investigate deep. A lot of interesting options for children. Highly recommended.
Was the best day to be able to see history and we went for the National Geographic Nature Photography Awards. Was the best experience for the day. Take some time, and have a lot of time, if you are to go to the museum. Was awesome. It is an amazing experience to see Australia's history, via, explorers, and pioneers of the different areas in the eras that they are from. However, please do not confuse my experience with history, with the history of Australia. Go and see for yourself.
Fantastic day out on the weekend in the newly refurbished museum. Truly great exhibitions and so much to see. Staff were very welcoming too and free admission. Highly recommend a visit if you haven't been in years.
Can you please provide a date for when the museum will be open??
