Very well organized and explained maritime museum. 18$ per adults is worth the experience. Mainly replicas of histocally important ships and stories, as well as artifacts.

Not a place to miss. The museum, the beloved child of a band of devoted volunteers, takes you back in time to when shipping was queen - and unbelievably dangerous. The stories of the steemers and shipwrecks of Queensland is told, the tale being often sad. There are artefacts, photos, models, and maps that tell us all about the life of Australian ships. Outside, a collection off ships are on display; the story of the frigate HMAS Diamantina is evocative and you you can experience that by exploring the ship from top to bottom.

Very good well presented museum. Staffed by older generation volunteers who were very helpful and informative.nLoads to see, lots of model shop engineers that can be started at the push of a bottom.nGreat presentations in different sections on historical Brisbane, immigration, lighthouses. Loads of wonderful models of famous Brisbane related vessels.nWW11 destroyer that you can climb all over.nSet aside a half day to do it justice.nIt's right beside one of the City Cat/ Kitty Cat stops on the south shore so access is very easy.

The weather was against us today. Unfortunately that meant the outdoor exhibits were closed but we were given a discounted rate for the indoor section. We were told indoors might only provide half an hour of interest to us - an hour and a half later we left with a great deal more knowledge than we came with. Highly recommend even if it's wet and you can't see outdoors. Will be back next trip to see the rest.

This is about my 4th visit and I am still finding interesting facts. On the other hand this was my partners 1st visit and she also loved it. We only left as they were about to close up. We will be returning sometime soon.

Great insight into maritime history including wartime. Particularly interesting was the different instruments used over the years and the montage of different ships.

This was the highlight of our trip to Brisbane. To our surprise a stunning model of the Otranto, the ship my father travelled on to Australia. Also Lucinda cabin is a beautiful reminder of Brisbane's history. Hope our government will support this museum to remain for the future.

A great family experience!nMaritime has such a rich history steeped in tradition and this museum has a fantastic collection of maritime relics from yesteryear. From light house evolution to navigation displays, relics from vessels of significance and the majesty of HMAS DIAMANTINA. The dry dock was closed so could not view the ship from beneath but apart from that... I very much enjoyed learning about the constantly evolving maritime industry and so did my son.nVenue is always well maintained and people who work and care for this treasure... thank you!

Before I start this post for the Queensland Maritime Museum I must point out that I am a volunteer here at the Museum.nI have volunteered at the museum for the last 10 years after I retired from the Department of Education Brisbane. It is such a great place to visit with your family and the kids will love our warship the Diamantina.nThey can check out and operate the 4 inch guns, go down into the engine room and see the Captain's cabin.nThere are many other displays to visit. So search our website site for all the details and come in and see us!nYou won't be disappointed!
